Rock Safari's

Weekly from 27th July till 24th August


Don’t miss this opportunity to find out more about Lochaber’s fantastic landscapes and geology. Get on a Rock Safari and visit the world of Fire, Ice and Rock

Lochaber Geopark are running a series of Rock Safari mini bus excursions during July and August. The destinations are all part of ‘Wild Lochaber Trails’.


Wednesday 27th July - Glen Nevis
Half Day. Departs 10am and 2pm. Explore and examine this fantastic Glen in the shadow of Ben Nevis UK’s highest mountain, a collapsed caldera.

Wednesday 3rd August- Glen Roy

Half Day. Departs 10am and 2pm. See the features of Ice age landscapes and Darwin’s favourite, the Parallel Roads.

Wednesday 10th August -Ardnamurchan
Full Day. Departs 9am (packed lunch required). Travel to the most westerly point in Great Britain and see the remnants of an enormous volcano crater rim.

Wednesday 17th August - Glen Nevis
Half Day. Departs 10am and 2pm. Explore and examine this fantastic Glen in the shadow of Ben Nevis UK’s highest mountain, a collapsed caldera.

Wednesday 24th August - Glen Coe
Half Day. Departs 10am and 2pm. A great introduction to Lochaber geology in the grand setting of Glen Coe.

Costs

  • Half Day Rock Safari - £10.00 per person (concessions £5.00)
  • Full Day Rock Safari - £15.00 per person (concessions £7.50)

All Rock Safari mini bus excursions depart from Fort William Tourist Information Centre in the High Street. The Rock Safari’s all have an experienced geologist on board as your guide. Each excursion has only 15 places, so please book your seat on the mini bus by contacting:-Lochaber Geopark on info@lochabergeopark.org.uk or phone Jim Blair on 01855-821305. Where we go can be rough ground, so remember to take walking footwear, outdoor clothing and a camera. Great opportunity to see wildlife too.
